Happy 21st as Business Club welcomes MayorBurton Business Club has marked its 21st birthday with a celebratory dinner attended by the Mayor of East Staffordshire, Liz Staples. Almost 40 members and guests enjoyed a two-course meal in the St Andrew's Room, at Branston Golf and Country Club. Chariman Derek Liddle, who began his two-year term in April, said:"It was a fantastic night. Everybody came up to me afterwards and said they had a good time." During the evening, eight diners told humorous stories about their companies after having their business cards pulled out of a hat by the mayor. Mr Liddle also gave a speech celebrating the club's birthday and appealing for support for his annual Christmas appeal, known as 'Derek's Tree'. Formed in 1987, the business club, comprising of almost 60 people such as accountants and solicitors, offers members the chance to use each other's skills and socialise. It meets at 6pm on every second Tuesday of the month in Branston Golf and Country Club's St Andrews Room. As featured in The Burton Mail
